Il y a quelques jours, le National Geographic a publié la liste des 20 plus belles photos pour l’année 2015. Et devinez quoi ? Une photo prise à Madagascar figure dans cette liste (le contraire aurait d’ailleurs été étonnant).

La photo, ci-dessus, a été intitulée « Mother of the Forest » ou la mère de la forêt. Dans un commentaire, son auteur, le photographe Marsel van Oosten, explique :

« Ces baobabs de Madagascar sont vieux de plus de 800 ans. Ces vieux baobabs creux servent de maison aux serpents, aux chauves-souris, aux galagos, aux abeilles et parfois même aux humains. Mais le plus important est que l’arbre est une importante source d’eau. Il peut stocker jusqu’à 4 000 litres dans son tronc. En Afrique, c’est littéralement l’arbre de la vie. »
